The pleasant weather of spring and fall brings festivals and fun, and many events where the NCSPA can educate people about agriculture and soy. These days, most people are one or more generations removed from the farm, so the Association takes every opportunity to help people understand what growers do every day and why.
Recently the NCSPA was on hand for the first ever Surry County Ag Adventures Day, with 600 students in attendance. Outreach education coordinator, Laura Rogers talked about agriculture with students and provided them a backpack with a soybean seed kit, a NCSPA kids book and other educational materials. She also had an exhibit at Ag Day day in Onslow Co., also reaching 600 kids.
In addition, Rogers recently presented to high school students at Southeast Collegiate Prep in Halifax Co. They learned all about soy, and discussed agriculture and careers in agriculture.
