The North Carolina Soybean Producers Association hosted their 57th Annual Business meeting last week during the North Carolina Commodity Conference. President Gary Hendrix gave a briefing on association activities over the past year before proceeding with regular elections. Four first-term directors were elected to the NCSPA Board of Directors during the meeting:
Bill Jordan, Tyner, Chowan County
Justin Studivant, Chapel Hill, Orange County
Dale Dawson, Cove City, Craven County
Derrick Austin, Marshville, Union County
As per the bylaws, these directors will be eligible to serve two, three-year terms and will be responsible for overseeing all checkoff activities as well as association business. The board also held elections for officers and executive committee seats. The following directors were elected to the executive committee: Adrian Locklear, Forrest Howell, Keith Caldwell, and Logan Watson, who replaces retiring director Reggie Baker on the committee. All officers were reelected to their seats starting with President Gary Hendrix of Raeford, Vice President Philip Sloop of Mount Ulla, and Secretary Trey Liverman of Columbia. “I am thankful for the opportunity to serve our NC Soybean farmers another year”, says President Hendrix.
The Association would also like to thank the following retiring directors for their years of service to the NC soybean industry: Reggie Baker, Aaron Kirk, and Andy Bland. Though their time serving on the board may be coming to an end, we know these three individuals will continue to be leaders and advocates within their communities and state.
