The North Carolina Soybean Producers Association (NCSPA) hosted its 58th Annual Business Meeting in mid-January as part of the North Carolina Commodity Conference. President Gary Hendrix provided a briefing on the association’s activities over the past year before proceeding with the regular elections. After two successful years of service as NCSPA president, Gary Hendrix moved into the treasurer position, in accordance with the bylaws. Philip Sloop of Mt. Ulla (pictured) was elected as the new president. Joining Hendrix and Sloop on the officer team are Vice President Trey Liverman and Secretary Forrest Howell.
Six directors were elected to the NCSPA Board of Directors:
- McCall King, Robeson County
- Buster Manning, Beaufort County
- Travis Grimes, Nash County
- Caleb Slager, Beaufort County
- Richard Smith, Union County
- Taylor Waddell, Columbus County
- Brian Stallings, Pasquotank County
As outlined in the bylaws, these directors will serve three-year terms and will oversee checkoff activities and association business. The board also elected the following directors to the executive committee: Adrian Locklear, Keith Caldwell, Tom Porter, and Thad Sharp.
The Association would like to thank the retiring directors for their years of service to the NC soybean industry: David Heath, Reid Gelderman, Ben Long, Logan Watson, Duncan Malloy, Phil Gore, Wade Stanaland, and Collin Smithson. While their time on the board has concluded, we are confident they will remain leaders and advocates within their communities and for the state.
The Association was proud to honor Gary Hendrix of Raeford with the President’s Award in appreciation for his outstanding contribution as the 29th president of the North Carolina Soybean Producers Association.
