When commodity prices are lower, farmers need to keep costs low to maximize profitability. Transportation costs can quickly impact the bottom line, but they’re not something that growers always take into account.
A new calculator created by the Soy Transportation Coalition (STC) will help make it easy to determine the most profitable transportation option by taking into account revenue and costs associated with different delivery options, including local and distant. The calculator is free and is even available as an app for both iPhones and Android devices. It will work for soy, corn, wheat or any other agricultural commodity.
