The Executive Farm Management (EFM) program was started by NC State extension in 2017, and since then has enhanced the managerial and financial skillsets of hundreds of farmers in the Southeast.
Typically the program is an intensive, 12 day event, held in person. While the program has delivered amazing results, in the past the price tag has been an obstacle for some. Consistent with the theme of the past year, EFM Program Director, Dr. Blake Brown, had to pivot for the 2021 iteration which will be distilled into three half days of content delivered remotely at the significantly lower cost of $500.
Reflecting the value board members have derived from this program as past participants, the NCSPA voted at its annual meeting to provide a $5,000 sponsorship to the program which will be used to defray $200 of this expense for the first 25 soybean growers who register. In addition to the NCSPA sponsorship, peanut growers are eligible to receive a $150 credit and alumni of the program an additional $100 credit – meaning some growers could pay as little as $50 for the program.
For growers who have been deterred by the cost or travel commitment of the program in previous years, 2021 offers an excellent opportunity to pick up key program takeaways at a significantly lower cost.
