On Feb. 22, the North Carolina Soybean Producers Association was named Community Partner of the Year for 2019 for the Columbus County Community Farmer’s Market in Whiteville, N.C. at its annual awards banquet. The photo to the left shows Laura Rogers, Outreach Education Coordinator for the NCSPA, receiving the award.
The Association has helped with the organization’s outreach efforts to youth in the community. For the past four years, the NCSPA has participated in the Farmer’s Market’s annual back-to-school bash held each August, with an educational exhibit and has provided materials about soybeans and agriculture to the children in attendance. Bernard Lennon, former board member and president of the board, was instrumental in getting the NCSPA involved in the event.
The Association is always interested in participating in events to help children or adults understand more about what our members do every day and the soybeans they grow. If you know of an event where it would be beneficial to have the NCSPA involved, please contact Laura Rogers at 919-839-5700.
