The North Carolina Soybean Producers Association has conducted numerous community outreach events this summer, reaching almost a thousand children at our regular Meet the Farmer event at Marbles Kids Museum, four agritourism farms around the state and multiple summer camps, mostly through extension offices. Laura Rogers, the association’s Community Outreach Coordinator has traveled to over 30 counties in N.C. this summer alone to educate children and adults alike on soy, today’s farming and new technology in agriculture, and soy nutrition. Some lucky campers even got to enjoy soy foods such as soy pizza with edamame, fruit with soy lemon dip and soy oatmeal cookies.
Fall promises to be busy as well, as Rogers has outreach events planned every week from mid-September through mid-November, with events in 11 counties.
