Representatives of China’s top soy processors visited North Carolina on Friday – Saturday Aug. 26-27. The trade team was on a multi-state U.S. tour organized by the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC.) The team had an unforgettable experience on the Fleming Brothers farm in Halifax County and at the Ram Albemarle Club on the Roanoke River, where they discovered N.C. whole hog barbecue.
Chinese customers are always very interested in U.S. soy production and the team had many questions for John Fleming about the beans in the field and his farm operation, which also produces corn, cotton and peanuts.
The trade team included Chinese and multinational companies representing more than half of China’s total soy processing capacity. Thanks to John Fleming and Rob Fleming for the excellent farm tour and for sharing local culture, and Jeff Tyson, Michael McPherson, Lee and Sydney Dunn, Greg Manning and Jessica Harris for meeting the team and making the barbecue memorable.
